The UNIVERSAL FELLOWSHIP OF THE INNER LIGHT is based on a single, universal principle. It is called The Law of  One. It states, simply, All is One. This is far from being some nebulous, head-in-the-clouds concept. It is possible to personally experience this in your own life at the very deepest level, not in words, but in actual physical experience. All that you will discover on this Page now and in the future is intended to lead you to this life-changing experience.

Previous Lesson: Experiencing the Law of One

    In the introduction to his book The Law of One, Dr. Bonewitz tells of his own experience of The Law of One, how it directly led to the creation of his teachings, and the creation of the Fellowship. As the first offering on the Teaching Page, it is reproduced here in full. 

   'My most direct and personal experience of the Oneness of all things came in 1983 when I attended a self-development course in London. As a completion of the course, we did a guided visualization to music: we visualized shedding all of the anger, resentment, hatred, grief, and so on that we had accumulated during our life, and acknowledged these so-called "negative" feelings as our teachers, as those feelings that led us through our lifetime learning experiences. All of these "negatives" we no longer needed, we gathered up into bags, and we were to be like rocket ships, returning all of this redundant learning material back to the Cosmos, the Source of Being from which comes all experience.

     As I went out into space I felt myself expanding: a real, tangible body experience of expansion. And, suddenly in a great and utterly unexpected rush of expansion I was the Universe. I was totally aware of my earthly physical body, yet the stars and planets and galaxies were my body.

I felt a great outpouring of energy pulsing from my heart, which in that moment was also the heart of the universe. Physically it felt like a massive electric current blasting down my arms and through my hands.

   Although a few years have passed since this unity experience, forgotten details still re-emerge periodically. As I later discovered, this experience was identical in many respects to some types of near-death experiences. The memories which re-emerge serve as a foundation for the courses and seminars I teach, directed toward helping participants achieve the same point of Unity, to achieving their own personal experience of The Law of One.

     A flash of the memory returned to me, literally in the form of a "blinding flash", on a course I was teaching about the patterns of human psychological development. I already had a clear memory of the pulsing sensation emanating from my heart, and the image I had at that time of billions and billions of arms all over the universe raised toward that Universal Source, all reaching for Unity with that Source. In that moment of blinding realization, it struck me that all life beats to that pulse, the pulse of Creation itself. That pulse is the source of the rhythms and cycles and patterns that are the very foundations of the universe.

     In the moment of the Unity experience, there was also a tremendous sense of the great interweaving of the many strands of life within the Universe, and an overwhelming sense of direction and purpose directing it. This is no haphazard, fickle Universe that we are a vital part of. It is going somewhere, and we are part of its journey.'

 The purpose of the Fellowship is to aid each and every one of you to discover this for yourselves.

     It has been said that the body is the temple of the spirit. It is even more accurate to say that the body is the perfect embodiment of spirit. Your body, with all its apparent flaws, aches, pains, illnesses, emotions, feelings, and limitations, is the perfect reflection in flesh of the state of your Oneness with your own Inner Being, the spark of God within you. All that has occurred in your life to bring you to your current state of physical, mental, and emotional being is the outworking of your own personal Plan to bring you to that perfect reunion. The messages our physical body sends us through its illnesses, feelings, and emotions are neon-arrow pointers to healing our relationship with our Inner Being - if we are willing to listen to and correctly interpret the messages. Illness is the message your body sends you as a last resort when you have failed to hear all the other messages it has sent you.

   There is no external force that can make anyone take the inner steps toward that reunion. Because our physical body is designed as a perfect reflection of our oneness – or the lack of it - and because there is only one 'healing' (the healing of our connection to God), then all 'healing' must come from the 'patient'. The 'healer' is only there as a facilitator. Remember, even God cannot 'heal' someone who refuses to be healed; in other words, to make their own steps toward reunion.

   How those steps can be taken will be the subject of further lessons on the Teaching Page.

New Lesson: The role of relationships

      Between any two people who are drawn together, there is a body of unresolved inner issues for each partner, issues stemming from the original separation from the Source, from God, and manifested through the person's early childhood environment. This is the purpose for the choice of a particular set of parents: they will set up for you the learning situations required in that lifetime. These are the issues that are later resolved (or not) through adult relationships. It is the nature of attraction that the mutual issues will interlock. That is, your issues will be a part of your partner's issues, and vice-versa. This is often referred to as a 'karmic' relationship. It means nothing more than you and your partner are working on a different aspect of the same lesson or lessons. You are, at least for the time you are learning mutual lessons together, 'soul mates'. But in any lifetime you may have more than one 'soul mate', depending on the lessons to be learned, and how well you are each learning the lessons. If one partner learns and the other doesn't, then the purpose of your relationship will eventually cease, and you both need to move on. The caution hereis that many relationships end just at the point where the real issues arise, without staying together long enough to resolve them. Such a relationship is an opportunity wasted.
